- Vampire Songs: The Shadow Ensemble scores Nosferatu
In a one-time performance at Nightbird Books in Fayetteville on June 24th, the ensemble will take positions across the venue, lending the film an eerie and all-enveloping ambience. "Imagine before surround sound technology existed, if a bunch of musicians tried to create the surround sound experience," says ensemble leader Ryan Cockerham. The folk-tale nature of Nosferatu meant a major change in the ensemble's approach. Horror film staples like the theramin will remain, but the presentation will be augmented with zither, accordion, flute, clarinet and an overall acoustic bent.
